Using the principles learnt in the Creating Old World Mods tutorial, this tutorial will take you through the requirements of adding a new nation to the game.
I'm not going to display files with reams of xml. You have the source files to look at. What I will do, is discuss what needs to be done to create a new nation in Old World.
Adding a new nation is not as simple as just adding a new entry in nation.xml. A new nation has links to characters, colours, crests, traits, families, map names, and of course texts and assets.
One of the really cool parts of adding in a new nation, is that you can influence the naming of map features in mapElementNames.xml.
Families are another great way to make your nation unique. Create new families and give them traits based on historical references. Note: I haven't included it in the source files, but you can create entirely new family types in familyClass.xml.
Importantly, don't forget your characters. You can have famous historical figures for your nation. For the Byzantine mod I included Emporer and Empress Justinian and Theodora. Regarded as the most influential Byzantine Emporers in the Empire's rich history.
